Due to Currency Downfall, Activists Call for Civil Disobedience in Aden

Activists in the city of Aden, southern Yemen, called on Tuesday for civil disobedience in protest against deterioration of currency.

The activists called on all citizens to escalate popular protests, after the price of the dollar exceeded one thousand riyals in the southern provinces and the price of foodstuffs rose to record levels.

They accused Saudi-backed Hadi’s government and the coalition of taking destructive economic policies, which led to the collapse of the riyal exchange rate, and caused fatal damage to the lives of millions of Yemenis.

It should be noted that “Hadi government” continued to print currency illegally, though it knows that this targets the livelihood of Yemenis, especially since the printed amounts that reach Yemen are not registered in the central bank in Aden.
