UN Envoy to Yemen Leaves Sana’a

The United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, left Sana’a on Tuesday after a two-day visit.

During the visit, Grundberg met with Mahdi Al-Mashat, President of Sana’a Supreme Political Council.

Grundberg also gave a briefing to the UN Security Council, through videoconference, describing his discussions with the Al-Mashat in Sana’a as “positive and constructive.”

He added that Yemen needs an agreement that includes a common vision for the way forward in order to avoid a return to all-out conflict, urging the parties to make maximum use of the space for dialogue that has been created.

The UN envoy stated that the general military situation in Yemen is still stable, saying: “There was no major escalation, no changes in the front lines.
