The United Nations has warned of a dangerous escalation in the forced displacement policies carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities in the West Bank, stressing that thousands of Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes since the beginning of 2025. The deputy spokesman said The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Farhan Haq, said that the continuous Israeli measures, in addition to the demolitions and security pressures, prompted about 40,000 Palestinians to forcibly leave their homes and lands during the past months. And the UN official said, in press statements published on Saturday, that the first week of May witnessed a remarkable field escalation, which resulted in the displacement of an additional 42 Palestinians, including 24 children, in an indication described by the United Nations that it reflects direct targeting of groups. The most vulnerable within Palestinian society.
UN sources indicated that the attacks of the armed settlers have become a daily threat to the Palestinians in the cities and villages of the West Bank, stressing that these attacks are often carried out under direct protection from the Israeli occupation forces. These attacks vary, according to UN reports, from sabotage of private property and physical assault on the population, to the demolition of homes and vital facilities on which Palestinian families depend to secure their livelihoods. Farhan Haq stressed that these practices come within a systematic policy aimed at changing the demographic and geographical reality in the occupied Palestinian territories, considering that the continuation of forced transfers constitutes a clear violation of international law and covenants prohibiting the displacement of the population under military occupation.
