The administration of the Zionist Negev prison keeps prisoners under the sun for hours

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office stated on Tuesday that the administration of the Israeli Negev Prison has escalated its punitive measures against prisoners by forcing them into the prison yard and leaving them exposed to the scorching sun for up to six consecutive hours following any unrest within the prison.

In a statement, the office explained that the prison administration continues to tighten its measures against the prisoners by reducing the daily exercise period to half an hour once every two days, in addition to carrying out frequent raids on prison sections.

The statement added that the administration has confiscated copies of the Quran from all cells and prohibited prisoners from reading them, while simultaneously continuing to reduce the amount of food provided to them and delivering spoiled meals on some days.

The statement also noted the imposition of strict censorship on prisoners’ conversations during visits and meetings, preventing them from inquiring about conditions outside the prison, and ending some meetings prematurely if these issues are raised.

The office emphasized that these measures represent a new escalation in the policy of abuse against prisoners and are part of a series of violations targeting their fundamental rights.
