The Gaza Center for Human Rights warns of a near-total collapse of the water system in the Gaza Strip, indicating that the Israeli occupation is using thirst as a means of exerting pressure on civilians.
The Tasnim International News Agency reported that the Gaza Center for Human Rights warned of the near-total collapse of the water system in the Gaza Strip, given the ongoing Israeli attacks, the destruction of infrastructure, and the prevention of fuel and equipment needed to operate and repair water facilities from entering Gaza.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Center emphasized that more than two million Palestinians are facing the summer in catastrophic conditions, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius inside tents and shelters, and hundreds of thousands of families deprived of the minimum amount of water necessary for drinking and basic uses.
The Center stressed that the water shortage and humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip are the result of a systematic Israeli policy targeting the foundations of civilian life, primarily the water and sanitation system, leading to a near-total collapse of basic services and creating an uninhabitable environment.
