Houthis expand the scope of ground operations to central Saudi Arabia

Yemeni operations in the Saudi depth entered a new phase on Sunday with the expansion of their scope by land.

After days of limiting Yemeni operations to the air against the south of the Kingdom, Yemeni forces have begun talking about a new theater of operations.

The most prominent areas that Saudi Arabia has begun talking about being bombed by those it describes as the “Houthis” are the city of Taif, one of the most prominent central cities, in addition to the city of Sharurah in the far southeastern region. The spokesman for the Yemeni forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, confirmed in his latest statement the bombing of an operations room in this area adjacent to Yemen’s eastern border, which is completely distant in the Empty Quarter desert from areas under Sana’a’s control.

The new cities are added to a large list of Saudi cities that Yemeni forces have been bombing with missiles and drones in recent days, starting from Jizan in the south to Najran, passing through Abha and Khamis Mushait in Asir.

The shift in the course of Yemeni operations indicates that the forces are adopting a new strategy in escalation according to the course of the Saudi aggression in Yemen.

The new operations are characterized by being carried out with relatively longer-range missiles compared to the southern ones adjacent to the Yemeni border, as Taif is about 700 kilometers away from the first border point with Yemen.

They also indicate that Yemen is heading to expand the scope of operations further in light of its previous operations that targeted the “East-West” oil pipeline and at its farthest point in eastern Saudi Arabia.
