Al-Murtada: UN efforts collide with Islah’s stubbornness in Marib

The head of the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee in Sana’a confirmed on Saturday that the Islah party in Marib had obstructed the prison visit exchange process, which was previously scheduled by the United Nations, indicating that Sana’a had made every effort to facilitate the exchange process.

Sana’a – Al-khabar Al-Yemeni:

Abdul Qader Al-Murtada said, “We provided the UN with a list of prisoners and detainees to disclose their fate in exchange for revealing the fate of Mohammed Qahtan,” adding that the Islah party in Marib refused to disclose the fate of our prisoners and abductees. He also stated that UN efforts collide with Islah’s stubbornness in Marib.

Al-Murtada considered that what the coalition raises about the file of Mohammed Qahtan is an excuse to obstruct the prisoner exchange process and reiterated that Sana’a is prepared to enter into a “comprehensive deal to release all prisoners, but there are obstacles from the aggression parties.”

He confirmed that they are sending “local mediators to Marib to resolve the disputes,” indicating their keenness to release the largest number of prisoners from the prisons of both parties, considering that this file is humanitarian and not subject to political standards.

Also revealed that “there are hundreds of detainees who were abducted from the roads in Taiz, Marib, Aden, and others for sectarian and racist reasons.” Prior to this revelation, the Sana’a government confirmed that the coalition does indeed kidnap people for the purpose of exchanging them as war captives with Sana’a.
