The US has deployed significant military reinforcements off the coast of Yemen on Sunday, coinciding with new threats of military escalation if attacks on Israeli territory continue.

The US Department of Defense announced the transfer of the nuclear aircraft carrier “USS Eisenhower” from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea.
The Eisenhower is added to American and Israeli battleships, notably the USS Carney, which was redeployed off the western coast of Yemen days ago.
The redeployment of American battleships in the Red Sea coincided with the disclosure by the “American Conrsation website” of the collapse of the truce between Saudi Arabia and what they described as the “Houthis.”
The website quoted Western and American sources predicting a military escalation if Sana’a continues its attacks on Israeli territory.
These movements come on the eve of media reports stating that Saudi Arabia intercepted ballistic missiles that were heading from Yemen to Israel as part of the ongoing operations carried out by Sana’a forces in solidarity with the people of Gaza, who are facing daily massacres and a strict blockade.
Abdullah Al-Hatilah, the assistant editor-in-chief of the official Saudi newspaper Okaz, confirmed that the deployment of American warships was a response to what he described as the “Houthis” ignoring American-Saudi threats through intermediaries to stop attacks on Israel.
Al-Hatilah, who is close to intelligence, hinted in a series of tweets on his official social media account about his country’s request for American support to confront the threats to Israel from Yemen.
It is currently unknown if these moves are part of plans for a military build-up in Yemen, where Saudi Arabia hopes to achieve military successes, it has previously been unable to achieve, or if they are part of pressure efforts to neutralize Sana’a from the confrontations in the occupied territories of Palestine. These events also align with claims in Israeli media regarding the restart of Washington-led normalization talks between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
Notably, US National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby had earlier reaffirmed Washington’s and Riyadh’s determination to move forward with normalization steps while the Saudi Defense Minister was in Washington conducting negotiations.
The US places the Yemen file as one of the key cards on the table of normalization between Riyadh and Tel Aviv.
