WFP warns of famine spreading from northern Gaza to south

The World Food Program warned on Sunday of a total famine in the northern Gaza Strip, explaining, “The situation is worsening in the south, and children have died due to hunger and malnutrition.”

WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain said that, “there is a total famine in the northern Gaza Strip and the tragic situation is spreading and worsening in the south.”

McCain called for “a ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip.”

She pointed out that there is a total famine in the north, and it is heading towards the south.

“This is based on what WFP staff have seen and experienced in Gaza,” she said.

Since the seventh of last October, the Israeli occupation army has continued its aggression against Gaza Strip, with American and European support, as its warplanes bomb the vicinity of hospitals, buildings, towers and homes of Palestinian civilians and prevent the entry of water, food, medicine and fuel.
