Raising Level of Saudi Representation in Negotiations with Sana’a… Breakthrough or Escape?

Saudi Arabia raised on Tuesday, the level of representation in the negotiations led by the Sultanate of Oman with Sana’a.

Exclusive-Alkhabar alyemeni:

The American Associated Press revealed arrangements in Muscat for direct meetings between Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, who arrived on Monday, and “Houthis” delegation that represents the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Salvation Government and is currently in Muscat.

The Saudi step is the first since the start of the Omani mediation months ago, as the negotiations were limited to diplomatic and security delegations, before developing into the participation of the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Muhammad Al Jaber.

The Saudi move comes amid wide developments in Yemeni file, most notably reports of freezing negotiations due to differences over several files, not to mention the news that bin Farhan submitted to put the final touches to announcing the agreement to extend the armistice, as it carries the approval of the Crown Prince to proceed with the peace procedures with Sana’a. But the most important thing is the American and international movement in the Yemeni file.

It has not yet been confirmed whether Faisal bin Farhan’s arrival to Muscat carries signs of a breakthrough in light of the current impasse, or a Saudi attempt to escape from American and international pressure to proceed with peace procedures. However, the news about the possibility of discussing the upcoming negotiations with the Omani initiative may indicate a Saudi attempt to maneuver, although the increase in representation carries positive signs in the peace process.
