A Saudi newspaper reveals the amount of money that will be deposited in the Aden Central Bank

The actual deposit amount that Riyadh will make in the Ma’een government’s central bank in Aden, southern Yemen, was reported by a Saudi newspaper on Tuesday.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Informed sources were cited by the “Al-Sharq Al-Awsat” newspaper as claiming that the funds to be given to the central bank of Aden do not exceed $200 million. According to the sources, those amounts will be disbursed under the supervision of the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al-Jaber.

The sources explain that this money will be used to support the auctions of the central bank in Aden, citing currency speculations practiced by the Ma’een government with the ambassador’s cover, and claim that it was done to avert the collapse of the local currency.

The Saudi newspaper released these details just before Reuters leaked information about Saudi Arabia’s decision to give Yemen a new deposit worth $1 billion and $200 million, viewing the deposit as a facilitator for dialogue and opening the door to a comprehensive solution. This is a tactic used by Saudi Arabia to inform Sana’a that the majority of those amounts will go toward paying salaries in regions ruled by it that continue to insist on the payment of salaries from oil and gas revenues.
