More than ten thousand women have been killed in Gaza Strip, while survivors of Israeli shelling and ground operations have been displaced, widowed and facing famine, making the war on Gaza also a war on women, the UN Special Commission for Women said in a statement.
The UN body also estimated that there are 19,000 orphaned children as a result of the martyrdom of more than six thousand mothers in the Gaza Strip.
It added that more than one million women and girls in Gaza do not have access to food or safe drinking water as diseases rise amid inhumane living conditions, especially for nursing mothers and pregnant women who have greater daily water needs.
At the end of its statement, the Commission called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
