Rejection and obstruction of dozens of UN attempts to reach the besieged people in northern Gaza

The United Nations made forty-one attempts this month to reach Palestinians trapped in areas of northern Gaza with life-saving aid, but Israeli authorities have facilitated none of these attempts, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq said Israeli authorities had rejected 37 of these humanitarian missions, and the four approved missions had been hampered on the ground and had achieved only part of their tasks.

Haq told the daily news conference that parts of northern Gaza were under siege for more than 50 days now as hostilities continued. He said civilians there were under intense bombardment and desperately needed help.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stresses that international humanitarian law requires the protection of civilians and ensuring that their essential survival needs are met, whether they remain in place or flee.
